The Curse
There once was a handsome prince named Roberto. Roberto spent all of his time looking in the mirror and saying to himself, “I am so handsome. I love my beautiful face.” In fact, he was so narcissistic that he had no time do anything else because that would take away from his time of sitting around each day and admiring his handsome face. He didn’t care about the people in his kingdom or the problems they faced. As long as he had his mirror, he was happy.
One day, a servant in the house of the prince was cleaning his room, and she accidently broke his beloved mirror. When the prince came in from his morning swim (he hadn’t carried the mirror because he could see his reflection in the water) and when he saw what she had done, he was furious. He banished her from the castle. Much to his surprise, the servant girl was more than she seemed. In fact, she was actually a witch! Angered by the prince’s pride and refusal to accept her apology for breaking the mirror, she transformed into the true version of herself. Then she raised her wand full of dark and evil magic, and she cast a spell upon the unsuspecting prince.
By the time she left the room, the only sign of life left was a frog wearing a tiny, gold crown. The frog was hopping from one shard of glass to another, trying desperately to see his image in the pieces that were scattered across the floor.
When the prince finally saw his reflection, he gasped. The noise reverberated through the room. The frog prince tilted his head to the left and then tilted his head to the right. He craned his frog neck as far as he could to get a better view, and then he said to the empty room, “Why, even as a frog I’m amazingly handsome!” Then he scooped up a tiny sliver of the mirror and hip-hopped away, smiling the entire time.
