Computer Virus
Landon started up his computer before school like he did every day. His computer was programmed to do his homework. Yes, his computer was like his best friend. Landon checked his e-mail and then hurried down for breakfast.
“Hey, Mom, do you think I can go to a movie tonight with some friends?”
“Only if your chores are done,” replied his mom.
At lunchtime, Landon swiped his card in the lunch machine, but it showed that he had already eaten lunch today. He went to class to take his math test, but found his name and score already recorded on the computer. He had not gotten a good grade.
“How can this be?” he asked.
After school, he stopped by the movie theater to pick up a reserved ticket to the latest alien movie—but the lady said that a ticket had already been purchased in his name. Something was wrong! Landon hurried home to see what was going on. He read an e-mail from his own computer. It read, “Landon, I am tired of doing the work in your life, and I have decided to do the fun things in your life as well. Signed, Your Computer.”
“What?” asked Landon. “I’ve got to reprogram this thing, and quickly. I can do my own chores. Who needs a computer to do that?” Landon spent the next two hours reprogramming his computer and fell exhausted on his bed. He wondered if the computer had already slept for him that night. He hoped not.
