To suggest that something should be done now or in the immediate future It's (high/about) time I got a mortgage.
It’s (high/about) time we were leaving.

Watch out!
° With It’s (high/about) time, there is often no real difference in meaning between past simple and past continuous.
✓ It’s time I went home.
✓ It’s time I was going home.

° We can also use a full infinitive after it’s time, but not after It's high/about time.
✓ It’s time to think about getting a loan.
